WEST AMWELL TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT
COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

POLICE PROGRAMS:

D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education).  The West Amwell Township Police Department currently has one patrol officers assigned to the D.A.R.E. program.

Programs are conducted at the West Amwell Elementary School, South Hunterdon Regional High School, and most recently the Educational Services Commission School (West Amwell Campus).

Volunteers needed:  Women’s Crisis Of Hunterdon County is actively recruiting volunteers to become members of the Hunterdon Women’s Services, Crisis Intervention Team.  The Crisis Intervention Team members consist of a specially trained volunteer advocates who provide immediate assistance for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault at the Hunterdon Medical Center and police stations throughout Hunterdon County.  The team member provides emotional support, legal options and information, advocacy and resource referrals to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault during their time of greatest need. Home Security Survey. 
Home security surveys are conducted by calling 609.397.5875, one patrol officer is now assigned to survey and make suggestions to the homeowner on how to make the home more secure against burglary and various other crimes, this is done by appointment only.

Vacation and Vacant Property Checks.  This is a program designed to deter burglaries while the homeowner is away on vacation or business; recently it has been expanded to homes under construction or vacant homes for sale. The property is checked by patrol officers on each eight hour shift, 24 hours a day, until the property check is cancelled. Security checks can be activated by calling 609. 397.1100 or 609.397.5875.

Crime Prevention Services.  Officers are made available to speak to any group or organization within West Amwell Township on topics of crime prevention. To invite a police officer to speak to your community group contact Lt. Stephen Bartzak at 609.397.5875.
